This section provides you with the procedures involved with replacing the bobbin in your AMAYA.
Before you thread the bobbin, you need to remove the bobbin case from the machine.
To do this, locate the release lever on the bobbin case.
Pull forward until the case is free from the machine. Remove the old bobbin from the case.
Place the bobbin case in the palm of your hand with the front facing down and the open end facing up.
The thread direction of the new bobbin should be winding clockwise as you drop the bobbin into the case.
Insert the bobbin into the case.
Route the thread through the thin slot opening and under the tension spring. The bobbin thread should now be releasing from the side of the case.
To check the tension of the bobbin, hold the bobbin thread with one hand. As you gently bounce the bobbin case, it should drop approximately 2 - 4 inches / 50 - 100 mm. If the tension is too tight or too loose, use a flat-blade screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise to tighten or counterclockwise to loosen the tension. A little bit goes a long way; adjust as necessary.
NOTE: Bobbin tension should be increased slightly to drop 1-2" when bounced when using the Acti-Feed Auto Mode.
Wind the thread through the pigtail. The thread should be through the center of the pigtail.
Insert the bobbin and case in the machine with the pigtail facing up.
Push on the bobbin case until it snaps into place.
Leave 2 –3 inches of thread hanging free. When the machine begins to sew, the thread will pull up on the first stitch.
CAUTION! Never attempt to remove or insert the bobbin while the machine is operating. |
Tip: Each disposable bobbin will last an average of 30 – 40 thousand stitches depending on stitch types, tensions and sewing conditions. |
It is recommended that you clean under the tension spring of your AMAYA bobbin case every time you change the bobbin. Lint and bobbin wax can build up under the spring, and this can affect bobbin tension. To clean under the spring, slide a corner of a small piece of paper under the tension spring in the same direction the thread travels through it. See the following image for the location of the tension spring. While cleaning under the tension spring, be careful not to bend the spring. After cleaning the bobbin case, it is recommended that you check the bobbin tension.
